Open the app while connected to the internet — rates refresh automatically and the new timestamp appears under each currency. To force a refresh, pull down on the converter screen. If a refresh fails (poor signal, captive portal Wi-Fi), the app keeps showing the last cached rates rather than a blank screen.
Whenever the app has any internet connection it caches the latest rates locally. After that, every conversion uses those cached numbers and works without a connection. Each screen shows when the rates were last updated, so you can decide whether to trust them for what you are doing right now. The app does not pretend to have fresh rates when it doesn't.
Only as a small convenience: when you arrive in a new country, the app can suggest the local currency as a default conversion target — for example, switching to IDR when you land in Bali. Your location is processed entirely on your device and is never sent anywhere. You can decline the permission, and the app continues to work without it. If you previously allowed it and want to revoke, open your device Settings → Privacy → Location and turn it off for Travel Currency Rates.
On iOS, open the app and tap Settings → Restore purchases while signed in to the same Apple ID you used at purchase. On Android, open the app while signed in to the Google account you used at purchase. If something still isn't right, email us with your order number and we'll sort it out.
App purchases are processed by Apple and Google and refunds follow their standard policies. To request a refund, use the App Store or Google Play receipt in your email or contact the platform directly. We are happy to help if you run into trouble.
The app supports the major travel currencies and the full ISO 4217 list for searches. If a currency you need is not appearing, email support@travelcurrencyrates.com with the currency code and we will check whether it is missing or just hidden behind a setting.
This is expected. The app shows mid-market reference rates. Banks, ATMs, and card networks add their own spread (typically 1–4%), plus any foreign-transaction fees. The rate you see in the app is a reasonable estimate, not the rate any specific provider will give you.
The app stores your preferences and cached rates only on your device. Deleting the app from your phone removes them. There are no servers to clean up because we do not store your usage data centrally.
We use it only to suggest a sensible default currency when you arrive somewhere new. Your location stays on your device. Decline freely — the app works fully without it.
